Independent Study Spring 2012 Course Description: MI205 covers introductory through intermediate-level R programming topics with a focus on pharmacometric applications through lectures and hands-on lab sessions. Topics include basic R language constructs, data import/export, writing scripts and functions, manipulating data objects, traditional and lattice graphics, and basic statistical methods. This course also makes extensive use of the MIfuns package to teach and implement tasks such as population PK data set assembly, post-processing of Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian modeling output, exploratory and report-quality graphics and tables, and automation of compute intensive methods, such as bootstrapping and posterior predictive check model qualification. Participants may apply the 2 credit hours from this course to the Metrum Institute Certificate Program in Pharmacometrics. Independent Study: This course is being offered as an independent study online. See the Metrum Institute Independent Study Course Policy for more information. Prerequisites: None. Computer Hardware/Software: This course requires a Windows computer with a web browser and R installed for hands-on examples. $2,000.00 |
Independent Study Spring 2012 Course Description: MI210 provides an extensive overview of topics in population pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, including nonlinear mixed-effects modeling theory and implementation, data formatting requirements, population model development, model evaluation techniques, continuous PK-PD models, Monte Carlo simulation, and best practices. Instruction combines didactic lectures with hands-on exercises using R, MIfuns, and the NONMEM® 7 software. Participants may apply the 3 credit hours from this course to the Metrum Institute Certificate Program in Pharmacometrics. Independent Study: This course is being offered as an independent study online. See the Metrum Institute Independent Study Course Policy for more information. Prerequisites: Basic understanding of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles, compartmental pharmacokinetic models, introductory statistics, familiarity with the R or S language. Applicable MI Courses include: MI101, MI120 and MI201, or contact us. Computer Hardware/Software: This course requires a Windows computer with a web browser. Students will be given access to a Metrum Institute web-application server for hands-on examples, including all required software. Details on how to access the program are provided at the start of the course. $3,000.00 |
Independent Study Spring 2012 Course Description: MI250 provides an introduction to Bayesian modeling theory and the practical use of WinBUGS and R for PK-PD applications. In addition to basic concepts, this course includes instruction on BUGSModelLibrary, an open-source tool developed by Metrum Institute. This library facilitates the implementation of population PK-PD models in WinBUGS for compartmental models described by algebraic or differential equations. Participants may apply the 3 credit hours from this course to the Metrum Institute Certificate Program in Pharmacometrics. Independent Study: This course is being offered as an independent study online. See the Metrum Institute Independent Study Course Policy for more information. Prerequisites: Experience with PK-PD modeling and some familiarity with nonlinear regression, mixed-effects modeling and R (or S-Plus) is requred. Applicable MI courses include: MI200, MI205 (formerly MI220), MI210 and MI212, or contact us. Computer Hardware/Software: This course requires a Windows computer with an available USB 2.0 port. All required software used for hands-on examples will be freeware/open-source software and simple instructions will be provided for users to configure their computers before the course. $3,000.00 |
